Data protection policy
What data we collect and why When you become a member of the British Shell Collectors' Club we collect some personal information from you on a printed application form (name, postal address, telephone number and email address). We collect only the information we need to give you the benefits of membership – to contact you, organise events for you and keep you in touch with other members.
A printed list of members with their contact details is circulated to everyone in the Club every two years. At Club events we may also take photographs in which you appear and publish them in our magazine Pallidula, on this website or on social media pages.
How we protect your data We will keep your information secure offline and will not share it with anyone who is not a Club member for marketing or any other purpose without your specific consent.
Your rights over your data You can ask to see the information we hold about you at any time, and have it corrected or deleted from our stored records within 30 days of a request in writing to the Club Secretary (we cannot correct or delete it from already published membership lists). You can also ask to have a copy of your information. When you leave the Club, we will destroy your printed application form and delete your personal information from our digital records.
If you do not want your details included in the membership list, and/or do not want your photo to be used in the ways described above, please let the Club Secretary know.
