The 2018 Chatsworth Shell Fayre

This year's Fayre, the eighth, was held on 18 August 2018 at our usual venue, Cavendish Hall, on the beautiful Chatsworth estate in Derbyshire. As ever a wide variety of British and foreign shells, fossils, shell-related books and objects made from or depicting shells were for sale on the dealers' tables, as well as local stone inlay work. This year's exhibits included John Llewellyn-Jones's display of Victorian papier-mâché articles decorated with mother-of-pearl. The sun shone and a good number of visitors joined Club members to admire the shells and enjoy the excellent hall catering. Thanks to Rob Law and Brian Hammond for organizing the event and the meal for Club members in the evening.
